FES is certified by the Commonwealth of Kentucky Environmental and Public Protection Cabinet as having fulfilled the requirements governing the Certification of Drinking Water Microbiological Laboratories.

The analyses include:

Fecal Coliform – Using the membrane filtration procedure to determine the presence and enumeration in wastewater.
Total Coliform – Using the Readycult procedure to determine the presence/absence of coliform bacteria and E. Coli in drinking water sample.
HPC (Heterotrophic Plate Count) – Using a HPC procedure for obtaining an estimate number of live heterotrophic bacteria present in water.
E. Coli – Using a modified mTEC for the enumeration of E. Coli in surface water and wastewater.
